ESTUFA FRIA
The Estufa Fria is a greenhouse garden located in the heart of Lisbon, in Parque Eduardo VII, on the site where, in the 19th century, there was a quarry, which a modest gardener reused to house various plant species from all over the world, which would be used in the afforestation plan for Avenida da Liberdade.
Opened in 1933, with an area of around 1.5 hectares, it is today made up of three parts: the Cold Estufa itself, the Hot Estufa, and the Sweet Estufa; the last two opened in 1975 and intended for various tropical and equatorial species.
Our Dinner is set in the Greenhouse Pavillion with 800 m2, which was built in the 50s.
It is a semi-buried building made of reinforced concrete made up of ten vaults that follow the slope of the hill on which it is located, integrating, at the north end, a rocky basalt outcrop. The interior is lined with small pebbles, which resemble washed marble.
